Announcing the winner of the First Ever Maggie Bokor Jewelry Contest!

I am so pleased to announce the winner of my first ever Maggie Bokor Jewelry Contest. Celine Jacques of Quebec, Canada won my Tulip Cap Fine Silver Fresh Water Pearl Earrings. The contest was held to ask everyone for a quote about how they feel wearing my work. If they hadn't purchased a piece, then a few descriptive words about how they saw my work. I received so much great feedback and I will definitely be adding many of the quotes to my marketing material. The winner was pulled randomly from a hat. I did want to share what Celine wrote, it's a keeper for sure!

"MAGGIE'S PIECES OF ART

Looking at them,
I am always impressed by the way she includes natural "textures" in her pieces;
I perceive the nearness of the east coast, of the ocean, of the nature's gifts in her creations.
You want to feel them, touch them, and wear them.

The perfect union of nature and
art.

The perfect way to remember my vacations on the East Coast.
The perfect way to stay in touch with a friend.

Life as Art, Art as Life : Maggie's creations."

What to Wear-New Idea for Maggie Bokor Jewelry

So...it's truly been ages since I have blogged. So much has changed for Maggie Bokor Jewelry. I have done my first Wholesale Show at the NEPTS this February where I landed to fab new galleries. I also recently started showing my work at the very well established and sought after Abacus galleries all along the Maine coast. Already had my third reorder, so would say things are going well! PLUS! I am getting into casting. Just sent a second batch of work to my caster and will hopefully see my first samples in about a week or so. Things are cruising!

I have decided to have some weekly/monthly posts to connect you all with my work and more importantly how much fun it is to wear! Introducing "What to Wear"

What am I wearing?
I decided to where a few pieces from my ECHO Collection. The floating pearl ECHO necklace is the newest addition. I love the little pop of perfection the pearl creates. The ECHO pearl drop earrings were the perfect pair of earrings to finish the look.

How does it make me feel?
Today I feel inspired, bright and beautiful. Summer is around the corner and I have a feeling this will become my go-to jewelry.

The jewelry choices up close and personal:

etsy.com here I come!

So two years ago, almost to the day, I started an online jewelry store on www.etsy.com . With the best intentions to start selling, I quickly put up my virtual store sign and immediately was overwhelmed by all of the policies, pictures and prices I had to figure out to get out my first sale. Without making excuses, I let it slide and my store has been vacant ever since.....until now!

I am so very proud to announce that I am FINALLY getting my act together and will be begining to make sales on my brand new etsy store in March! Thanks to my wonderful friend, Esther Holden, who has two awesome stores herself..... http://www.etsy.com/shop/ladybuglabels and http://www.etsy.com/shop/thebakersconfections, she has been an absolute doll at helping me get all of my ducks in a row. So if you have a moment, check out Esther's shops and sneak a peak at my new facade.....jewelry is soon to follow! Here's my link!

The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz- Words to live by

Be Impeccable with Your Words
Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.

Don't Take Anything Personally
Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a protection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won't be the victim of needless suffering.

Don't Make Assumptions
Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely trasform your life.

Always Do Your Best
Your best is going to change from moment to moment. It will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best and you will avoid self-judgement, self abuse and regret.

The Pleasure of Nia

Clarity in 2010

Clarity is defined as free from obscurity and easy to understand; the comprehensibility of clear expression.

I am making friends with clarity. Clarifying relationships with work, friends, wants, needs, feelings, fears and everything in between. The first relationship I am working on is with myself. I am taking note of the words I use and the thoughts that linger. The veil is so thin some days and I can feel myself pulsing with inner joy and other days are thick and foggy. I am looking forward to how my life will unfold as I step more deeply into me.

New Painting Stage 1- The Underpainting

Spent a wonderful day in my studio with my paints. I am going to call this one "The Giving Tree". This is the underpainting. I love working on wood and encorporating the grain into my images. The patterns speak to me.

Sunday, January 17, 2010

Went out with my crafty sisters to see this great documentary on the crafting revolution happening in America. It was great to dive into the world of craft and I would highly recommend this film to anyone interested in investigating their creative juices.

The director, Faythe Levine, answered questions after the movie. She was great and was definitely a highlight of the night. A three year commitment that is coming to a close for her, but I believe this is only the beginning for what she has uncovered, celebrated and presented to the world.

I have struggled in the past with the fine art versus craft issue and I feel as if I have never felt complete comfortable in either world. As my jewelry business has grown, I find myself focused on creating my own pieces instead of spending my time as a designer and buyer of other's great ideas. The journey into jewelry making is taking on a new life and I am eager to see where it leads me. This documentary was a great reminder to settle into who you are and make what you make with out questions. Removing judgement and giving into your creative center is essential and something I can lose sight of when I start to think about how to sell and what to sell. Back to creating for art sake!

Thanks Faythe! Thank you to my lovely art community here in Maine always supporting me on the journey!

Closing thoughts for Maggie Style Jewelry 2009

Feel like I have caught a shooting star....what do I wish for next?

I can feel change in the air.
Good change.
Important new beginnings.

I have already had three meetings of the minds with other creative entrepreneurs here in Maine. Each group offers new insight and understanding about being in business for myself. We have talked about accomplishments in 2009 and goals for 2010. So what are my accomplishments for Maggie Style Jewelry in 2009?
I have built my business to include a luscious selection of new and exciting jewelry. Expanding my pearl line, adding in ornamental leaves, bringing back my etched copper and simplifying my glass work have allowed me to connect to a larger audience and begin to focus on where I feel most aligned.
I have enjoyed the addition to my hammered and stamped silver rings and they have been a great success. This custom line is so versatile and speaks to my desire to make work with special meaning for people. It's been a great year and I am grateful for everyone who has been part of my path.

A wonderful 2009 for Maggie Style Jewelry

Sending you all wonderful wishes for an abundant, exuberant and glorious new year! As the snow begins to fall outside my windows, I feel so grateful for such a great holiday season of shows for Maggie Style Jewelry. Thank you for all of your support. I want to personally thank my amazing husband, Greg, for constant assistance throughout the season. He not only helped set up my booth, made custom display pieces and strung a few pearl necklaces in his spare time, but he gave me constant reassurance and undying understanding while I whittled my way through show after show.

I look foward to sharing more work with you in 2010. Lots of new ideas brewing including some stamped ring and pearl necklace party planning. You never know what will happen next and I am starting to like dipping into the unknown.

Cheers!
Maggie Bokor
